Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points
Maker's Mark 46® is the recipe of Bill Samuels Jr., son of founders Bill and Margie, and the first new major expression since classic Maker’s® was released in 1958. Maker’s 46® is aged longer with special seared French oak staves. With subtly layered bourbon notes and balanced complexity.
AROMA: Hints of toasty French oak, caramel and baking spices
TASTE: Mildly sweet and uniquely layered with deep rich notes of vanilla and baking spice
FINISH: Velvety subtle and pleasingly long.
PROOF: 94
Maker's 46® is the taste vision of Bill Samuels, Jr. Creating his signature bourbon requires first-of-its-kind finishing that begins with fully matured cask strength Maker’s Mark®.
Ten seared French oak staves are fitted into the barrel before the whisky is finished to maturity under ideal conditions in our limestone cellar.
The result is a bourbon with notes of caramel, vanilla and baking spice that greet the palate in layers.
Why is it called Maker's Mark®46? Bill Samuels Jr. named this bourbon after the French Oak Stave, which the Independent Stave Company files as "Stave Profile No. 46".
