Dom Jerome Fornerot Description
This plot is situated between the hamlets of Gamay and Saint-Aubin and was planted between 1960 and 1970. The soil is comprised of white marl with clay and lots of pebbles. Crunchy dark cherry and round silky tannins are followed by mild baking spices and mineral. The wine is aged in French oak barrel (15% of new oak barrels). Then vatted for 6 months before bottling at the estate.
Over the last couple decades, the quality of Saint-Aubin has experienced hockey stick growth. Coinciding with that has been the rise of Jérome Fornerot. While many pinot noir plots in Saint-Aubin have been pulled in favor of chardonnay, Fornerot insists that some areas are more suited to red grapes. The stony hillside of Les Perrieres is one of them. This is ideal for anyone who prefers Red Burgundy that’s more about elegance than raw power.
