Clos Julien Description
The Clos Julien Chardonnay 2023 includes grapes from one of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in San Luis Obispo County. Native yeast fermentation in a mix of stainless steel tanks and neutral French oak barrels results in a vibrant, tense, and juicy expression of coastal California Chardonnay. In a well-shaped Burgundy glass, this brilliant, polished white gold Chardonnay opens with discreet aromas of white nectarines, lemon-spritzed baking apples, and honeyed melon, along with lemongrass, hawthorn, toasted macadamias, and chamomile moving in and out of the foreground as the nose evolves in the glass. On the palate, the wine is as crisp and multi-layered as a fine white Burgundy, blossoming with a delicious, mouth-watering texture, and a solid, shimmering core of mineral-infused Chardonnay flavors that echo the nose. Fine and vibrant, like a Corsin Pouilly-Fuissé that was amplified by the California sun. Drink now–2028, at just a bit cooler than cellar temperature
