94 Points Decanter
Sweet blackcurrants, tobacco, dark chocolate and black truffle. Great nose, just so much going on. Gorgeous intensity of flavour on the palate, round and juicy black fruits mostly with very softly spiced tannins that support the fruit and give structure and weight. Lively acidity gives bounce and freshness and there is a cooling liquorice touch to the finish. Well made and well finished. Everything feels in balance and harmonious. Clear power but well presented. Could almost drink this now but I would hold for a few years as this will age well.
93 Points Jeb Dunnuck
Ripe Bing cherries, mulberries, spicy oak, new leather, and candied violet notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Grand Corbin, a rich, medium to full-bodied, Merlot-dominated Saint-Emilion that has the vintage’s pure, balanced, classic style. It shows more minerality and truffly, herbal notes as it sits in the glass and is a beautiful example of the balance and finesse coming from Saint-Emilion these days.
92 Points Vinous Media
The 2019 Grand Corbin is a mid-weight wine laced with expressive floral notes that add brightness and freshness. Rose petal, sweet red berry, mint and orange peel all lead into the persistent, vibrant finish. This succulent, inviting Saint-Émilion should drink well right out of the gate.
92 Points James Suckling
This has aromas of blueberries, currants, pine cones, oyster shells and nutmeg. It’s medium-bodied with firm, tightly wound tannins. Tight, mineral finish. Fresh. Better in 2024.
Producer Notes
At Grand Corbin, a good terroir shows itself truly. The wine makes a stunning first impression with an elegant color that is brilliant and deep, aromas that are lightly woody yet distinguished, and fruity impressions in the mouth that are flavorful and promising. It's best to approach this vintage with the prudence suitable for a very young wine that is far from developing its full aromatic maturity. Still, you neededn't wait long to discover its complex mariage of power and finesse in the glass, with perfectly developed tannins, a juicy fullness typical of Saint-Emilion, and a long aromatic finish which is the sign of a great classed growth.
Barrel Sample. Surprisingly soft tannins are already integrated into the generous black fruits and ripe texture of this full-bodied wine. Its richness along with the black currant flavors are balance by the juicy acidity that cuts through into the finish.
